During the Victorian era (1837-1901), there was a significant emphasis on ornamentation and embellishment in design. This included intricate patterns, motifs, and detailing on various household items, including doorknobs sets. These door sets are surface mounted. To achieve a flush finish, your door needs to have a borehole. 

Polished brass is an unlacquered living finish that will naturally darken over time, and slight variations between pieces are normal. All other finishes will not tarnish. For a long-lasting high-shine finish, lacquered brass is available as a custom order.
